Our curriculum The Montessori Curriculum is rich and varied. Every day children have the opportunity to work with materials which enhance learning in the following areas: Grace and Courtesy, Practical Living Skills, Sensory Awareness, Language Arts, Geography, Math and Geometry, History, Science, Art, Music and Movement Our method The Montessori method is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. Teachers carefully prepare an environment with age-appropriate activities for children to choose from. Emphasizing independence, it views children as naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive environment. Our faith St. Francis Montessori is the only Christian Montessori school in El Paso. We believe that learning about Jesus is just as important as learning to read and write. Every month we focus on different virtues children should learn and practice, and incorporate important events in the liturgical calendar in our lesson plans. Christmas is a festive time to celebrate the true “reason for the season” by creating a live nativity and Christmas pageant. Children learn about the most important book in the world, the Bible and learn how to talk to “the good shepherd” who loves and protects them.
